Lazy River Playground and Retreat Center

Lazy River Playground and Retreat Center hosts events: birthday parties, family reunions, school events, wellness retreats and weddings from May until the end of October. We are also home to Lazy River Cabins for rent, as well as Lazy River Forest Therapy offering public and private Forest Therapy walks, Solo Retreats, Reiki, and Spiritual Counseling sessions.

About Lazy River Playground

Since 1942, family and friends have enjoyed the natural rustic charm of the Playground. We have vintage roller skating and mini-golf, along with shuffleboard and horse shoes. There is a large covered picnic pavilion that seats 60 and a covered charcoal pavilion nearby that can feed large groups. The waterfront is a beautiful spot to sit and relax or perhaps launch your kayak.

We are a seasonal business open from May until the end of October.

We are Doug and Sarah and we are on a mission to bring Lazy River Playground back to life and to improve the venue for the local community and future generations. Lazy River Playground has been a part of North Country life since 1942 when it was founded by Doug’s great-grandfather, John Grandy, and continued by his grandfather, Red Grandy, until 2018. Some of the buildings and entertainments on the grounds have been around since the ’50s and need of some TLC. It’s a big job to maintain a roller skating rink, a mini-golf course, event pavilions, cabin rentals, shuffleboard courts, and trails.

We are looking to raise $30,000 to replace the golf course fence, expand the outdoor bathrooms into an insulated/ heated bath house with showers, and update and improve the wiring to meet the current and future needs of Lazy River Playground and Retreat Center. Any additional funds raised will go toward renovating the skate hall and improving the trail system on our 175 acres.

Our Services

Come play, stay or wander on the beautiful grounds of Lazy River Playground and Retreat Center. We have 175 acres of forest trails, meadows and streams along the Grasse River.

Play

Lazy River Playground is a great place for your child’s birthday party, a family reunion, a graduation celebration or a wedding. It’s a place to relax and play mini-golf on our antique mini-golf course or shuffleboard. We have old time roller skating and horseshoes, too. We have a beautiful waterfront which is a picturesque backdrop for a wedding, a swim (with a signed waiver) or a great place to launch your kayak.

Stay

Come stay with us in our cozy rustic sleeping cabins. The White Pine and the Birch cabins each sleep four and our Maple and Hemlock cabins sleeps 2. We do give weekend priority to our customers who are hosting events at the playground.

Wander

Lazy River Forest Therapy invites you to re-connect with nature through all of your senses to help you feel more relaxed, less anxious and give your immune system a boost. We offer public and private Forest Bathing walks along with Reiki and Spiritual Counseling services.
